Odds converter
Type odds in any format. The converter shows the same price as fractional, decimal and American odds, plus the chance of winning the bookmaker is implying.
How to convert odds
Fractional odds show profit against stake, so 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2 staked. Decimal odds show the total return for every £1, including your stake, so 5/2 is 3.5. American odds show profit on a $100 stake for underdogs (+250) or the stake needed to win $100 on favourites (-200).
To convert fractional to decimal odds, divide the first number by the second and add 1. Implied probability is 1 divided by the decimal odds. A price of 3.5 implies a 28.6% chance. Add up the implied chances for every outcome in a market and you'll get more than 100%. The extra is the bookmaker's margin.
How to convert fractional odds to decimal
Divide the first number by the second, then add 1. So 5/2 is 5 divided by 2, which is 2.5, plus 1, which gives 3.5. Evens (1/1) is 2.0.
How to convert decimal odds to fractional
Take 1 away from the decimal and turn what's left into a fraction. 3.5 minus 1 is 2.5, which is 5/2. 1.5 minus 1 is 0.5, which is 1/2. Bookmakers round to familiar fractions, so 2.38 shows as 11/8.
How American odds work
A plus number is the profit on a 100 stake, so +250 is the same as 5/2. A minus number is what you have to stake to win 100, so -200 is the same as 1/2. To get decimal odds from a plus number, divide by 100 and add 1. From a minus number, divide 100 by the number (ignoring the minus) and add 1.
How to turn odds into a percentage
Divide 1 by the decimal odds and multiply by 100. 3.5 gives 28.6%. That's the implied probability, the chance of winning the price suggests. It includes the bookmaker's margin, so the true chance is usually a little lower.
